create

I am happiest when making something or helping someone else make something. Simple as that. It often doesn't matter which medium.

CLAY
I have been working in clay since October, 2005. Clay has been a freeing medium for me. It is playful and responsive. And is so readily imbued with personality. I am inspired by the humble, earthy beginnings, and the grand possibilities of this medium. I'm usually all about functionality when it comes to clay, but I have been know to build sculpture as well.

JEWELRY

Working in metal was perhaps my first real passion in fine arts. Truthfully, it may have been the tools and The Flame that sucked me in. But I stayed for the process. I find inspiration in found objects, life experiences, nature and dreams. My process for creation usually begins by meditating on a person, say my sister and I then collect objects and pieces of metal that remind me of her and go from there. I ponder each piece for an inordinate amount of time which is not conducive to high volume output. So far I haven't needed to produce much. I get a great deal of joy from teaching the things I've learned either on my own or in college or workshops. I have very few pictures of my recent metal work, but one I love is the collaborative bracelet and necklace I made with Max's class in 2012 for a school auction.
